Coaching Camp with Lt. Col Ravi Kalha (Retd)
16 adults and 17 junior members enrolled for a coaching clinic which was conducted from 23rd November 03 to 13 December, 03 under the expert guidance of Lt. Col Ravi Kalha (Retd) an ex 61 Cavalry officer who has been an international rider and settled in Dehra Dun.
The members were divided into batches according to their capability in the morning and evening classes. Besides basic riding, some members were put through paces in the gymnastic jumping and schooling on the flat and over obstacles. The classes were hectic and vigorously ridden. The members particularly those taking part in the JNEC later in December 03 made some good progress.
The coaching camp concluded on 13 December 03 with a musical evening and a dinner. Parents of participating children were more prominent. Besides, a lot of members attended the dinner. Mr. N.J. (Tolly) Jhaveri organized a live music band and many a couple and children took to the floor for an extended period.
Certificates were distributed to all those who participated in the clinic. The occasion was also used to felicitate our old members of the club Mesdames Mehroo B. Dubash & Tehmina D Shroff who have helped the club in many capacities. Silver Salvers were presented by Mr. Shyam Mehta to the ladies. Col Kalha was also presented a beautiful salver.
The clinic was the result of good planning by Mr. Shyam Mehta, Chairman Equitation Sub-Committee and Mrs. Tehmina Shroff who motivated and attended the evening classes. Mrs. Shroff helped to cram the Dressage tests by all the participants and nobody forgot it on the day of the test at Pune.
