The Amateur Riders' Club is one of the oldest & largest private civilian
riding clubs having been established in 1942. It provides riding
throughout the year. The club imparts riding lessons to children and
adults, young and old. Potential riders have access to graduate to Show
Jumping, Dressing, Polo and Tent Pegging under guidance.
Our Club has close to 1,400 members. Some of
the famous personalities who are members of ARC include Mr. Jackie Shroff,
Mr. Nassiruddin Shah, Mr. Aamir Khan, Mr. Ajay Devgan, Mr. Puru Pandit Raj Kumar,
Mrs. Varsha Usgaonkar, Ms. Tara Sharma, Mstr. Harsh Lunia,
Mr. Adi Godrej, Mr. Anil Ambani, Mr. Mukesh Ambani, Mr. Ajay G Piramal,
....
Children as and when they are confident are encouraged to
participate in mounted sports under supervision. The club has
separate riding arenas for beginners/Children, Dressage and Show
Jumping. Polo is played from December to May. The club conducts its
Annual Horse Show and Polo tournaments during the month of
Mar/April, every year where in army and civilian Teams/Competitors
from all over India compete. Sport activities in some form or the
other continue throughout the year.
The club office is located on the Mahalaxmi Railway Station end
of the Parking Lot of the RWITC on the K. Khadye Marg. The Campus
includes club house, stables where 100 horses both club and private
are stabled. The Riding Grounds are within the Race Track of the
RWITC and is about 1 1/2 km from the stables. Cars can be parked
near RWITC gate on Haji Ali - Worli Road in the morning or in the
main Parking on the K. Khadye Marg in mornings and evenings.
